ELDERS | Definition: Spiritual Overseers and shepherds of the local church who lead the mission of the church to reach the city. Our areas of discerning include the following:
1) Calling - There is an internal desire to serve and others confirm the gifts necessary for the task.
2) Character - Though no leader can expect to be perfect, he or she must model the character of Christ (1 Tim 3 and Titus 1:5-9)
3) Competency - Elder candidates should be able to equip and care for people spiritually, ability to teach in some capacity (small or large group). Deacons should demonstrate a practical and caring spirit. Deacons at Missio Dei serve in practical areas and show the fruit of the Spirit in their lives. Examples include advocating for those in need, leading or co-leading a Sunday ministry team, engaging one's industry in a redemptive way, serving the poor, benevolence and compassion ministries)
