Supported Church Plants
We love to support and encourage Chicago church plants, including those outside of the Missio Dei family of churches. We have been honored to be a part of the stories of these autonomous church plants:
New Creation Church
If disciples should make disciples, and they should, then churches should plant churches. Ricky Brown served as a pastor on staff at Missio Dei Uptown for one year and then felt the pressing call to church planting should be answered sooner rather than later. After 4 years of training and learning, Missio Dei would be the final stop for Ricky and his wife Amber before launching out to plant New Creation Church in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the south side of Chicago.
“The most impactful thing for me during my time at Missio Dei was to witness the church loving and caring for the surrounding community as a part of the life of the church and not as a special event. Missio Dei lives up to the name!” -Pastor Ricky.
The plans are to launch New Creation Church in the Fall of this year (2018). Right now they are in a season of recruiting dedicated launch team members and raising support. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. You can also support the arduous task of church planting financially and get more information at NewCreationChicago.org or [email protected].
On Sunday, September 11 th in 2016, Impact Life Church began sharing God’s dream of a different Chicago. Since that time, it has been an ever stretching journey of us placing our trust in the presence, the purposes, the provisions, the peace, and the people of God. We cannot adequately express how thankful we are for your partnership and your prayers. As we reflect on 2017, the word that best captures that 12 month period for us is appreciation. We are grateful for the trials and the triumphs, for the challenges and the victories – but most of all, we are grateful for you.
"We are thankful for your elders who have coached us, encouraged us, supported us, andprayed with us. We were honored that a number of your congregational members joined us at some of our Sunday Services to celebrate and praise God, together. We are appreciative of the human, financial, and logistical resources you have supplied to help structure and organize our gathering times. Missio Dei Chicago, you have loved us, your brothers and sisters at Impact Life Church, well!" -Duane Porter
Imago Dei Chicago
Having just planted Imago Dei - Beverly/Morgan Park this past May 2017, I'm deeply grateful for the influence and support Missio Dei provided me in the pre-launch phase for our far south side ministry. Developing meaningful connections with MD leadership, attending weekly staff gatherings, visiting all the MD congregations, gleaning insights on spiritual formation as well as urban disciple-making and resonating with the particular opportunities and challenges of city ministry all proved catalytic in shaping aspects of Gospel growth here in Beverly/Morgan Park. To receive increased networking opportunities, infrastructural support and financial investment provided valuable impetus and strength for Imago Dei.
By GOD'S grace, Imago Dei Chicago is living out and sharing the Gospel by making devoted disciples of JESUS who, in turn, are making other faithful followers of CHRIST (our stated mission). Our vision is to see people transformed by the reconciling grace and power of the Gospel, find their identity in CHRIST, live in the SPIRIT as agents of peace and be equipped to make more disciples for GOD'S glory. Imago Dei's values: Gospel-centered, reliant prayer, authentic worship, missional movement, and reconciled community. We rejoice in new followers of CHRIST, the baptism of new believers, a few new Gospel Community groups, elders in training, and an integrated congregation by design (67% African-American, 30% Caucasian, 3% Hispanic; 50% over age 40 & under age 40, cross-economic). Our aim is to stay committed to a simple, incarnational, relational local parish ministry of making disciples of JESUS. Thank the LORD we're establishing credibility in the neighborhood--one factor being we've distributed 625 back-to-school supply packs to every student in both Barnard Elementary and Esmond Elementary Schools (CPS), which both serve 90% low-income families. Pray that we remain true to our Gospel-centric mission, vision and values; and that we see GOD bring a spiritual awakening--something only He can do--to this part of the city! Praise the LORD for teamwork in the Body of CHRIST!
