The mission of MD Kids is to partner with parents to show and tell the good news of Jesus to our kids. What we are doing on Sunday mornings is not babysitting. It's ministry. Our aim is to shepherd the hearts and minds of the children of Missio Dei Wrigleyville by intentionally stewarding the time we have with them.
Our aim is to shepherd the hearts and minds of the children of Missio Dei Wrigleyville by intentionally stewarding the time we have with them. How do we do that?
With the Gospel - the good news of Jesus. Our Kid Kingdom teachers share the Word of God in relevant, age-appropriate, and fun ways. We use The Gospel Project curriculum and leverage the tools and resources provided, to enhance the learning experience for the children so that the Bible is more than just a book of stories, but a living testament to the God who made them, loves them, and longs to be in relationship with them.
Simultaneously, we aim to equip our parents to thrive in their role as the spiritual leaders of their children by providing take-home resources, practical tools, and encouragement on a regular basis. Our hope and prayer is that we begin to see families being transformed and living on mission together as disciples of Jesus.
We believe this is a critical part of how we begin to see a city that is being transformed by the Gospel. This is how we join God as He makes all things new.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
MD Kids is a ministry dedicated to teaching and caring for Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers and children K-5th grade. In the front foyer, you can sign your children in starting at 9:45 a.m. Your kids will then go to the service with you for the first portion of our worship as a church family, and then they will be dismissed with a blessing before the sermon starts.
We use the Gospel Project for Kids which immerses kids and preschoolers in the gospel through every story, principle from Genesis to Revelation. Through this curriculum, our kids will understand the Bible is not just a collection of stories but one unified story of God’s redemption.
Check-In opens at 9:45am and closes 15 minutes after service starts.
What we do in MD Kids builds upon our mission as a church to see disciples of Jesus made neighborhood by neighborhood, and upon the Great Commission when Jesus said “Go and make disciples of all nations.”

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and are asked to commit to serve in Kid Kingdom for a minimum of one year. Volunteers serve once a month and are asked to arrive at 9:15am on Sunday mornings and typically stay until 11:45am. No previous experience with children is necessary and you do not need to be an MD partner to be a Helper. However, to be a Teacher in Kid Kingdom, you need to be actively involved in a GC and/or an MD partner.
Missio Dei Chicago also places a high priority on the safety of the children who participate in MD Kids. Volunteering in MD Kids requires that we conduct an annual background check on all volunteers for the duration of their service. Background checks are conducted by the Congregational Director of MD Kids. All information provided is held in strict confidence.
